Desktop app

Overview

The desktop app is the same TaskSpot as the web app: same account, same tasks, same views. It adds a dedicated window, offline support, and automatic updates. It's free on every plan. Get the installer from the download page.

Install on macOS

• Download the .dmg from the download page. One file covers both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs.
• Open the .dmg and drag TaskSpot into your Applications folder.
• Launch it from Applications and sign in. That's it.

Install on Windows

• Download the setup .exe from the download page and run it. It installs for your user only, so no administrator rights are needed.
• If Windows shows a SmartScreen prompt, click More info, confirm the publisher is THE VIRDI CO., LLC, and choose Run anyway.
• Prefer an MSI? An .msi installer is also available on the download page.

System requirements

• macOS: Intel and Apple Silicon Macs are both supported by the universal build.
• Windows: Windows 10 or later.
• Or skip the install: TaskSpot also runs in any modern browser at taskspot.app. The web app and the desktop app are equals; use whichever fits.

Signing in

On first launch, the app opens your default browser to sign you in with your existing TaskSpot account (including Google sign-in and two-factor authentication if you use them). After you approve, the browser hands you back to the app and you stay signed in. There's no separate desktop password.

Each desktop sign-in appears in Settings → Sessions in the web app, where you can review and revoke devices at any time.

Updates

The app checks for updates when it starts, and you can check manually from Settings → Check for updatesinside the desktop app. When an update is available, a small banner offers it; one click downloads, verifies, and restarts into the new version. There's nothing to configure.

Working offline

The desktop app works without a connection. Add, edit, complete, and reorder tasks offline; your changes queue on your machine and sync automatically when you're back online. If the same task was changed in two places, the most recent edit wins.

Signing out

Sign out from Settings inside the desktop app. This removes your sign-in and any offline data from that computer. You can also revoke a device remotely from Settings → Sessions in the web app.

Good to know

• The desktop app doesn't send notifications. TaskSpot doesn't do notifications on any platform; your plan is waiting when you open it.
• There's no phone app. On mobile, use taskspot.app in your browser or add it to your home screen.
• Keyboard shortcuts work the same as on the web. Press ? in the app for the full list.
