AI Transparency

Version 1.0 · Last Updated: March 2026

At TaskSpot, we believe you should understand exactly how AI is used in our product. This page explains what AI does, what data it touches, and what it does not. No surprises.

1. How TaskSpot Uses AI

TaskSpot offers two AI-powered features, both opt-in and available to paid subscribers:

  • AI Enhance (Paste to Import): When you paste unstructured text (meeting notes, lists, project plans) and enable AI Enhance, our system sends your text to Anthropic's Claude AI to extract structured tasks. The AI identifies titles, priorities, due dates, and subtasks from your text.
  • MCP Integration (AI Assistant Access): You can generate API keys and connect AI assistants (e.g., Claude, Cursor) to your TaskSpot account. Those assistants can read, create, update, and complete tasks on your behalf when you explicitly request it.

Both features require an active paid subscription and are entirely optional.

2. What AI Model We Use

TaskSpot uses Anthropic's Claude Haiku (claude-haiku-4-5) for AI Enhance. We chose Claude for its strong performance on structured extraction tasks, safety-focused design, and clear data policies that protect your information.

3. What Data Is Sent to AI

AI Enhance

  • SENT: Only the text you paste (up to 10,000 characters) and today's date.
  • NOT SENT: Your name, email, account info, existing tasks, IP address, or any other personal data.

MCP Integration

  • SENT: Task data (titles, descriptions, due dates, etc.) only when you explicitly request an AI assistant to read or modify tasks.
  • NOT SENT: Your password, payment info, or any other users' data.

4. What Happens to Your Data

  • Ephemeral processing: Text sent to AI Enhance is processed in real time. It is not stored by TaskSpot or retained by Anthropic after the API call completes.
  • No model training: Anthropic does not use API-submitted data to train its models. Your text is never used for AI training.
  • Encryption: Resulting task data (titles, descriptions, priorities, dates) is encrypted at rest using AES-256.

5. AI Limitations and Accuracy

AI extraction is best-effort and not guaranteed to be perfect. The AI may:

  • Miss some tasks or create phantom tasks from non-actionable text.
  • Misinterpret priorities or due dates.
  • Misunderstand context, abbreviations, or jargon.

Always review extracted tasks before importing. You are responsible for verifying accuracy.

6. How to Opt Out

  • AI Enhance: Leave the toggle off. The free text parser runs entirely in your browser with no external API calls.
  • MCP: Don't generate API keys. If you have existing keys, revoke them from Settings > API Keys.
  • No penalty: All core TaskSpot features work without AI. You can use the product fully without ever enabling AI.

7. Data Sub-Processors

AI-related data is processed by:

  • Anthropic (Claude API): AI task extraction. Processing is ephemeral; your text is not retained.
  • Neon: Database hosting. Encrypted task data is retained while your account is active.

For the full list of sub-processors, see our Privacy Policy.
